Augmentation Dots
Precise rules for placing dots in polyphonic and chordal contexts.
When a note is dotted, the placement of the dot depends on whether the note is on a line or in a space.
Where does the dot go if the note is on a line?
The dot stays ABOVE the line to be clearly visible.
For the lower voice (stem down), the dot moves BELOW the line to avoid collision.
For chords, dots on line notes are shifted UP. Dots on space notes stay in the space.
